ANKA LEŚNIAK (PL)
Anka Leśniak (1978) je súčasná poľská umelkyňa, ktorá sa vo svojej tvorbe zaoberá témou pohlavia, tela, etnickej identity, histórie, jazyka a pamäti. Zaujíma ju najmä história žien, ktorú vníma ako nedostatočne zastúpenú v rámci oficiálnych dejín. Pracuje v médiu inštalácie, performance, site specific a videoartu.
Vystavené dielo Hekate, 2014 je zobrazením gréckej bohyne mágie, čarodejníctva a noci v typickom trojitom stelesnení s čiernou mačkou. Je súčasťou širšej série Incarnations (Vtelenia), kde autorka pracuje s obrazmi a významami bohýň pohanských a východných náboženstiev. Cez digitálnu manipuláciu autoportrétov sa s nimi stotožňuje, odkazujúc na archetyp bohyne matky a kladúc si otázku, či je možné vytvoriť iný obraz ženstva ako ten, ktorý v súčasnosti v našej kultúre dominuje.

Anka Leśniak (1978) is a contemporary Polish artist who deals with the theme of gender, body, ethnic identity, history, language and memory. She is particularly interested in the history of women, which she perceives as under-represented in official history scope. She works in the medium of installation, performance, site specific and video art.
The exhibited work Hekate, 2014 is a depiction of the Greek goddess of magic, witchcraft and night in a typical triple incarnation with a black cat. It is a part of a wider series of Incarnations, where the author works with images and meanings of goddesses of both pagan and Eastern religions. Through the digital manipulation of self-portraits, she identifies with them, referring to the archetype of the mother goddess and asking herself whether it is possible to create a different image of womanhood than the one that currently dominates our culture.
Anka Leśniak, is a member of the Art and Documentation Association and the group of she-artists Frakcja Group, a co-organizer of the feminist panel discussions "Seminarium Feministyczne", and an assistant professor at the Faculty of Sculpture and Intermedia of the Academy of Fine Arts, Gdansk
